do
做，干，办(某事) （一般动词）
(问询或谈论时用)进展，进行（一般动词）
用于实义动词前构成否定句和疑问句；代替实义动词以避免重复（助动词）
do这个动词实际上是有两种用法，或者说是词形相同的两个动词。

一般动词
do作一般动词，用法简单：
You should do it this way.
你应该这样做。
It may be difficult to do at first.
一开始可能很难。
She did well in her exams.
她考试成绩很好。
You'll wish you hadn't done it.
你会希望你没有做那件事。
I'm not sure what he does exactly - it's something to do with finance.
我不知道他到底是干什么的——总之，跟金融行业有关。

助动词
do做助动词，主要用在以下方面：
1，否定句
I don't eat meat and my husband doesn't either.
我不吃肉，我丈夫也不吃肉。
If you don't aim high you will never hit high.

She did not seem at all afraid.

2，疑问句
How many languages do you speak?

What did you get for your birthday?
你生日得到了什么礼物？
From whom did you receive these flowers?
你从谁那里收到这些花的？
You sister lives in Hangzhou, doesn't she?
你姐姐住在杭州，是吗？
3，对疑问句的简略回答。
Do you come from France?
Yes, I do.
No, I don't.
你来自法国吗？
是的，我是。
不，我不是。
4，肯定句中，do有三种作用：
1）强调句
You do look great today!
你今天真漂亮！
I do believe you'll make it.
我相信你会成功的。
I do speak a little Polish and Korean.
我确实会说一点波兰语和韩语。
He did know a lot about pet.
他确实对宠物很了解。
2）倒装句
Seldom do I go to the library.
我很少去图书馆。
Nor did she complain about her lack of money.
她也没有抱怨她缺钱。
3）指代前面出现过的动词。
I like you, and I really do.
我喜欢你，我真的喜欢你。
Tough days don't last. Tough people do.
没有过不去的坎，只有打不倒的人。
May I come in? --Please, do.
我可以进来吗？--请进。
She went college in London. So did I.
她在伦敦上大学。我也是。
He told me to take from the shelf. So I did.

助动词do和一般动词do同时出现：
Don't do it. It can pollute the lake.
别这么做。它会污染湖泊。
Did you do your dishes after dinner?

What do you usually do on Friday nights?

Do do something to stop it.
做点什么来阻止它。
