as引导时间状语从句的时候，其动作必须是可延续性的动作。主要是用来强调主句和从句动作同时发生的，当然as也可以用来强调动作的先后顺序。
比如：He sang as he walk in the road. 他在路上边唱歌边散步。
I am doing my homework as my mother is cooking the dinner. 当我妈妈在做晚饭的时候，我正在做作业。
As we going to the supermarket, it began to rain. 当我们出门去超市的时候，外面开始下雨了
一、As引导的时间状语从句时，表示“同一时间发生”，“随着”，“一边......一边......”:
例：As she grew older, she kept more to herself.
随着年龄的增长，她变得更沉默了。
例：The students took notes as they listened carefully.
学生们一边认真听讲，一边做笔记。
【As soon as: 表示“一……就......”的时间状语从句】
例：As soon as he got home, the phone rang.
他一到家，电话就响了。
二、As引导原因状语从句
As引导原因状语从句时，意思是“因为、由于”语气较弱，所表达的原因指比较明显，或是已知的事实：
例：As you were out, I left a message.
你不在，所以我留了一张字条儿。
三、As引导让步状语从句
As引导让步状语从句时，必须以部分倒装的形式出现，被倒装的部分可以是表语、状语或动词原形。As表示“虽然”：
例：Young as he is, he knows a lot.
尽管他很年轻，但是他知道很多事情。
例：Try as he might, he couldn't open the door.
他想尽了办法也没能打开门。
【注意】though可以放在句首，也可以用在上述倒装结构中，即Young though he is, he knows a lot. 但是，although不可以用于这种倒装结构。
四、As引导的比较状语从句
as引导比较状语从句，其基本结构是as......as。前一个as是副词，第二个as是引导比较状语从句的连词，意思是“像......一样”：
1）结构1：as+形容词或副词+as
例：You're as tall as your father.
你和你父亲一样高。
2）结构2：as+形容词+a(n)+可数名词单数+as
例：He is as clever a boy as Tom
他是像汤姆一样聪明的孩子。
五、As引导的方式状语从句
as引导方式状语从句时，表示“正如，像......”：
例句：They did as I had asked.
他们是按照我的要求做的。
When in Rome, do as the Romans do.
入乡随俗。
