状语从句分为时间状语从句、地点状语从句、原因状语从句、条件状语从句、目的状语从句、让步状语从句、比较状语从句、方式状语从句和结果状语从句。
一、时间状语从句
引导词：when、as、while、as soon as、before、after、the minute、the moment、the second、every time、the day.
Eg1：While john was watching TV,his wife was cooking. 约翰看电视时，他妻子正在做饭。
Eg2：No sooner had I arrived home than it began to rain. 我一到家就开始下雨了。
二、地点状语从句
引导词：where、wherever、anywhere、everywhere.
Eg：Generally, air will be heavily polluted where there are factories. 一般来说，有工厂的地方空气会受到严重污染。
三、原因状语从句
引导词：because、sincein that、given that
Eg1：The higher income tax is harmful in that it may discourage people from trying to earn more. 较高的所得税是有害的，因为它可能会阻止人们试图赚取更多的收入。
Eg2：My friends dislike me because I'm handsome and successful. 我的朋友不喜欢我，因为我英俊成功。
四、目的状语从句
引导词：so that、lest、in case.
Eg：The boss asked the secretary to hurry up with the letters so that he could sign them. 老板让秘书快点把信写下来，以便他能在信上签字。
五、结果状语从句
引导词：so that、such…that，to the degree that.
Eg：It's such a good chance that we must not miss it. 这是个好机会，我们决不能错过。
六、条件状语从句
引导词：if、so long as、only if、unless、in case that.
Eg：Provided that there is no opposition, we shall hold the meeting here. 如果没有人反对，我们就在这里开会。
七、让步状语从句
引导词：though、although、even if、as、while.
Eg：Much as I respect him, I can't agree to his proposal. 虽然我很尊重他，但我不能同意他的建议。
八、比较状语从句
引导词、the more…the more…、just as…、so…
Eg：She is as bad-tempered as her mother. 她脾气和她母亲一样坏。
九、方式状语从句
引导词：as、as if、how、the way.
Eg：When in Rome, do as the Roman do. 在罗马时，要像罗马人一样。
